Learn more about Blackhawk's PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports)program

The Illinois PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports) Network is pleased to announce that 677 Illinois schools have earned recognition for their PBIS implementation during the 2012-13 school year.  PBIS is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

 Several Freeport schools, including Blackhawk, were recognized at two different levels.

  • Blackhawk Elementary School, Empire Elementary School, Jones-Farrar IB Magnet School, Taylor Park Elementary School, and Freeport High School are among the 328 schools earning the Emerging level for building the foundation for school-wide PBIS implementation.
  • Center Elementary School and Lincoln-Douglas Elementary School are among the 225 schools recognized at the Implementing level for maintaining the school-wide PBIS foundation and building the foundation for Tier 2 interventions.
